Develops, organizes, and implements high quality YMCA programs for youth and community members. Develops, organizes and supervises summer day camp program. Organizes and oversees afterschool youth programs. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel. Monitors daily camp operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations. Previous experience working with children preferably in a day camp setting. CPR, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention and Universal Precautions training.


Develops annual marketing goals and monitors the achievement of this plan, taking appropriate action to ensure that the goals and objectives are met. Develops effective working relationships with service groups, community organizations and companies. Makes presentations about the YMCA. Leads assigned aspects of the fund-raising campaign. May plan and coordinate special events. Effectively seeks and writes grants to support YMCA programs.


We are in search of an on-site supervisor for a new program starting in August 2017. This position will assist in the successful operation of the Kalona Before and After School Program which will be held at Mid-Prairie East Elementary School (formerly Kalona Elementary). The ideal person will be able to nurture children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and a sense of belonging in youth. They will also be able to foster positive relationships between youth and have the ability to relate well with families of various backgrounds. This person will ensure high quality programs and establish new program activities.

SWIM LESSONS INSTRUCTOR Do you like to have fun at work? Can you laugh, smile and play for hours at a time? Do you want to leave a lasting impression on children’s lives? Why not have fun teaching SWIMMING LESSONS and WATER SAFETY? Washington Community YMCA is seeking enthusiastic and engaging talent to be part of our growing team in our YMCA Main Street Facility. Although we teach swimming to all ages and abilities, the majority of our students are pre-school and elementary-aged children. The ability to work with young children and their parents is the #1 priority. Schedules are flexible around weekday mornings, afternoons and/or evenings, and Saturday mornings.

CHILD CARE STAFF NEEDED! The Cornelia S. Day Child Care Center is in need of energetic, dependable and caring individuals to work in our center. Two positions are available. School Age Caregiver: Hours are 3:00pm-6:00pm, Monday through Friday. Center Staff: Center operates 5:30am-6:00pm, Monday through Friday. Hours of position to be determined. Applicant must be 18 years of age or older to apply. Previous experience is helpful but not required. Duties include providing direction and supervision, implementing curriculum, and providing a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
