Polliwog
For youth 6 years and older. Beginning level of youth swimming. It gets youth acquainted with the pool, the use of flotation devices and floating (front & back). By the end they should know the front paddle stroke & back paddle, & some water games. Youth can swim across the pool without assistance.

Guppy
For youth 6 years and older. Youth continue to practice and build upon skills. No flotation devices used. Introduce front & back crawl, introduce elementary backstroke. Must be able to swim one length of pool using front & back crawl, elementary backstroke & dive from side of pool.

Fish/Flying Fish/Shark
Fish - Work on refining all the strokes plus adding the sidestroke and butterfly. Learning rescue skills and the use of mask& fins.
Flying Fish - Work on strokes and endurance of each stroke. Use of mask, fins & snorkel. Also rescue procedures, starts & turns.
Shark - Continues to work on strokes, starts and turns. Overarm sidestroke, trudgen crawl, inverted breaststroke added.

Preschool
The Washington Community Y offers Preschool Lessons. The YMCA of the USA Swimming Program is for youth 3-5 years old. They learn fun, water adjustment, water safety, independence, movement, kicking skills, basic paddle stroke, and comfort with holding face in the water while blowing bubbles and swimming.

For youth 3-5 years old. 3 or 4 cubes.
Beginning level of preschool level.

Adult Water Fitness
Researchers say that working out with a group increases your chance of taking off weight and keeping it off. Join one of the Y’s many water fitness classes. We focus on cardiovascular fitness as well as toning, shaping and strengthening muscles. You will build endurance, burn off unwanted pounds and make exercise buddies. Class is held in both deep and shallow water.
Joint Effort
Water is a safe, ideal environment for relieving Arthritis pain and stiffness. Plus it is fun! The Arthritis Foundation recommends water exercise especially for people with arthritis, because it allows you to exercise without putting excess strain on your joints and muscles.
Aquafit
The next progression from Joint Effort. The class is set to music. This class allows participant to exhibit additional improvements in cardiovascular and muscle conditioning. BEGINNER LEVEL
Aquasize
Exercise to a set routine without music. This 45 minute class will work every muscle in the body while providing aerobic benefits. BEGINNER LEVEL
Aquarobics I
This 50 minute class is for the beginning exerciser who likes the water and is looking for the additional resistance of the water. INTERMEDIATE LEVEL
Aquarobics II
Our most advanced Aquasize class assured to challenge your fitness level. ADVANCED LEVEL.
